The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster has 256 pages. Milo always wants to do the opposite of what he is doing. Like when he's in school he longs to be out, but when he's out, he longs to be in. One day a Phantom Tollbooth appears in his house and he travels to The Lands Beyond. He meets strange people like a watchdog named Tick, also boys who grow down instead of up, and other wacky characters. During his trip he learns the importance of numbers, words, sound, and friendship. But when he finally gets back home, the tollbooth dissapears as mysteriously as it came.
During Milo's adventure he learns the importance of sound, numbers, and words. He finds that when you listen carefully to sounds they can tell things far better than words. Also even though you shouldn't use few words, it's worse to use too many. In mathmatics many things that can never be often are. Through his experience Milo interprets the use of thought as well as other things in The Lands Beyond.
