Caddie Woodlawn is 275 pages long, written by Carol Ryrie Brink and is about an adventurous girl named Caddie. She's always out finding fun with her brothers; but her mother wants her to act more like a lady. In the end she figures out that she could goof off with her brothers and be polite and sew with her sisters at the same time. There are many surprises in this book.
Many surprises happen to the Woodlawn family. They expect a visit from there Uncle Edmund and when he leaves he asks if he could take their dog with him so he can teach him how to hunt. They later find out that he loses the dog and can't find him anywhere. Then later they hear from the towns-folk that the Indians are going to try to attack. But they later find out that that was just a rumor. Their cousin decides to come to visit them and that was another surprise. Later they get an envelope saying that their father was going to be the next king of England. He leaves it up to the family to decide if they are going to move or stay. After a vote, it turns out that the family is going to stay on their small farm instead of moving into a big castle in England. This is an exciting book that has a surprise around every corner. I recommend it!
